Agedcare Alternatives open
In December 2010, Mrs Liz Scarce,
wife of His Excellency Rear Admiral
Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR,
Governor of S.A, and the Mayor of
Unley, Mr Lachlan Clyne, opened
a free aged care information
centre which assists people in
understanding how the aged care
system works, and how to find out
what care and support is available
for older people in South Australia.
Mrs Scarce currently volunteers at
Resthaven Malvern Residential Care
The centre, Agedcare Alternatives*,
is staffed primarily by volunteer
“Options Guides” providing
information and support to those
wishing to navigate the aged care
“Our Options Guides give free,
one-to-one, face-to-face assistance
to find out what an enquirer’s
needs and concerns are,” explains
Agedcare Alternatives Coordinator,
Franco Parenti. “The centre relies
on volunteers for its day-to-day
operation and we acknowledge
their hard work, without which,
this venture would not be possible.
